New athletic sneaker startup, HEROYK, (old spelling of heroic), aims to deliver blockbuster silhouettes and use them to make an impact. The company is dedicated to unearthing compelling stories and characters and then building products that tell these tales in the most creative ways.
For its inaugural collection, the label introduces a special pair that pays tribute to American basketball player and coach, John Wooden. As the head coach at UCLA, he won ten NCAA national championships in twelve years, and seven of which were won consecutively, hence receiving the nickname “Wizard of Westwood.” Within this period, his teams won a men’s basketball-record 88 consecutive games. This feat has been impressive because to this day, no other coach or school has won the tournament more than two consecutive years.
Utilizing top grade materials and tech for every detail, from the synthetic canvas to merino wool, as well as Dynamight tech that improves the range of motion, the shoe flaunts a clean, timeless design that essentially pays homage to the old school era.
Offered in two colorways of black or white, the sneakers will start at $98 for a single pair or two for $190, with a variety of unique one-of-a-kind add-ons available through their official Kickstarter campaign at different price points.
A percentage of profits from the sale of that sneaker goes to help fund programs for good. Visit here for more details.

Author’s Take
I like the classic finishes and I’m a fan of the retro look. The theme and message is pretty cool. I’m looking forward to see what the brand continues to create.
