Sneaker Grails: Noel Gallagher’s Limited Edition adidas Trainers

adidas adidas adidas sneakers.ru sneakers.ru sneakers.ru sneakers.ru

Here’s a hypothetical question for everybody: If you could own one pair of adidas sneakers that were either designed or inspired by a musical artist, which one would you go with? My guess is that most people would probably pick any of the Yeezys by Kanye West, but I already have a pair. If they’re not feeling the Yeezys, maybe they go with one of Pusha T’s EQT Running Support collabs. How about a signed pair of Snoop Dogg cleats? I’m good with that too.

So if I have all of those kicks already, what else is there? Well, there’s the Big Sean Detroit Players and while that’s a viable option, I would have to go with a pair that is quite limited but also appropriate considering how much I loved this particular artist’s music during my formative years. In all honesty, even if I didn’t have any of the sneakers I already mentioned, I would still pick this pair of “trainers” over everything, which is the British term for kicks. In this edition of Sneaker Grails, let’s take a look back at the adidas NG-72, which are former Oasis member Noel Gallagher’s “player exclusive” kicks.

“A big, big bag full of money, two VIP tickets to the World Cup Final and they said I could endorse my own adidas shoes.” – Noel Gallagher and how he ended up with an adidas PE

In maybe not the most shocking news in the world, there was a time when Noel Gallagher was totally addicted to drugs (considering he wrote “Champagne Supernova”, I’ll just leave it at that). When he quit the habit in 1998, he found a new fix in the form of trainers. Considering he was a pretty rich guy and Oasis was at the peak of their popularity during that time, getting sneakers was no problem for the songwriter and occasional singer for the band. He started buying multiple adidas vintage trainers and hiding them in all sorts of nooks and crannies so that his wife wouldn’t see them.  He has since cut his collection down to a more reasonable number, but the itch is still there. See? Celebrities are just like us ordinary sneakerheads. They have that burning desire to accumulate as many pairs as possible, lose their mind, cut their losses and then do it all over again.

Anyways, in 2010, adidas Originals tapped Gallagher and Ian Brown to participate in a series of ads for the World Cup. It was there the relationship between the musician and his favorite brand started in an official capacity and a year later, they released the NG-72. Limited to only 200 pairs in the world and sold only in London and Berlin to coincide with the release of his 2011 album Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, the shoe’s trainer’s signature feature are Noel’s picture plastered on the tongue on the shoe with the “Endorsed By” box in the same style as the adidas Stan Smith and his initials can be found on the laces and the heel tab. A quick Google search will reveal that while many of the shoes did end up getting sold, Gallagher seemed to have quite the stash for himself and has ended up donating many of them to various UK charities complete with an autograph.

With only 200 pairs in existence, finding any of these is going to be a pain and even then, the price that I would have to pay to convince a Gallagher/Oasis superfan to let go of them is probably unreasonable. Maybe my best chance is to tweet Liam Gallagher and ask him if he has a pair and hope he sends them my way out of spite for his brother. Ah well, don’t look back in anger, except for maybe this one time…

Men's Style 101 With Mark McNairy

A comfortable childhood spent with The Andy Griffith Show, Hot Wheels and G.I. Joe toys spell out Mark McNairy's humble middlebrow upbringing in Greensboro, North Carolina. Since then the 54-year-old leading menswear designer has swept through an illustrious career spanning over 20 years, having collaborated with the likes of adidas, Woolrich, New Era, and Pharrell and BBC. Now the designer pays most of his attention to revered label Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, his own line that brings a fashion-forward approach to preppy menswear, and recently launched his first book titled F**k Ivy and Everything Else, which serves as a cheeky guide to men's style through the lens of McNairy. THE WALL STREET JOURNAL had a lengthy fill-in-the-blanks session with McNairy to know a little bit more about the savvy menswear designer's tastes in men's style, grooming and fashion. View excerpts from the interview below and read the full piece here.

Nothing ruins a good shirt like: the wrong button. A button-down shirt should either have a white pearly button or a smoke pearly button.

My dream car is: my Maserati Quattroporte. It was like the businessman’s sports car.

Every man should own: a pair of Levi’s Vintage Clothing 501 jeans.

I always carry: my Alfred Dunhill front-pocket wallet. I’m picky: It has to be the right shape, the right leather, the right branding. It’s hard to put it into words. It’s like when you see a woman and [think]: “What is it about her?” It’s the whole package.

Every man should know how to: tie a bow tie. I learned from George Graham [the noted importer of English menswear brands to the U.S.] that if you tie your bow tie a little crooked, cute girls will come up to you in the elevator and straighten it for you.

The most underrated part of a man’s wardrobe is: underwear. This morning I was wearing a blue chambray shirt and I didn’t really want to wear blue oxford-cloth boxers with it. If my underwear is wrong, I feel wrong.

Everyday I wear: a Tudor diving watch. I’m not into Rolexes because I don’t feel like I’ve earned one yet. When I’ve achieved what I want to achieve, I’ll buy one. Which means I’ll never own one.

It drives me crazy when: guys think a button-down shirt is one that buttons down the front. “Button-down” refers to the collar.

My biggest menswear pet peeve is: people hemming their jeans, especially without a [traditional] chain-stitch hem. Buy them as close as possible to your length and roll them up. I’m just not big on the word “fit.”

Men should focus more on: their shoelaces. When they’re all twisted-up and dirty, it’s a reflection of sloppiness.

I learned most everything about clothing construction by: examining vintage pieces and Polo clothing by Ralph Lauren.

My last clothing purchase was: a pair of cowboy boots in Mexico. I also bought a cool pair of $5 black work boots and new white Huaraches.

My current obsession is: reissued 1970s Chuck Taylors. I have a fear they’ll stop making them. They look like the original ones I wore growing up—the shape, weight, and feel and those rubber laces.

A man should never wear: too much jewelry.

The man who wore suits the best was: Fred Astaire. If a suit fits you right, it’s way more comfortable than a pair of jeans. It’s both physical comfort and mental comfort. Fred Astaire dancing in a suit is it.

My most regrettable look was: the time I wore camo cargo pants with crazy royal blue and yellow saddle shoes. I was in Paris with my friend and we went to the Ritz and the doorman didn’t “like my coordination” so he wasn’t going to let me in. Looking back, he was correct. I wouldn’t have let myself in, either.

If these only for the ladies I have a feeling that lots of men wont be too happy. The snake-skin detailed upper gives the Reebok Question a really nice look. Kind of looks like a custom.

The Gonz Abides: Art Supply Shopping & $1 Pizzas with One of Skateboarding's True Originals

Mark "The Gonz" Gonzales is a downtown legend and a creative dynamo; his newest frame with sunglass specialists RETROSUPERFUTURE is just the latest in a long line of collaborations that range from Supreme to adidas, SEE SEE to New Era, but The Gonz makes sure to never step in the same river twice. Sitting in an art supply store in Soho, The Gonz mused on his creative process: "I wanna do things that haven't been done yet, use new materials, do things new." This philosophy applies across the board—be it shoes, skate-decks or citrus-orange shades, Gonzales makes sure to strike from a place of pure creativity and originality.

HYPEBEAST hooked up with the man behind the Shmoo to talk his new sunglasses, art history, P. Diddy and more as he picked up art supplies and grabbed a slice of pizza after skating up and down the streets of SoHo NYC.

Did You Catch Russell Westbrook’s Air Jordan 30 PE Sneakers Last Night?

Did you catch last night’s game between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder? If you happened to watch the game you were in for a treat as Stephen Curry once again proved why he will go down as one of the best shooters in the history of the NBA. Not only did he break his own record for most 3-pointers in a season, his game winning 3-pointed during overtime also tied the record for most 3-pointers in a game (12). Enough about Curry though, if you’re into sneakers as much as we are, you also probably noticed the shoes that were on Russell Westbrook’s feet, a never before seen version of an Air Jordan 30 PE. The shoe was done up in a black and white motif accented by the orange hits placed throughout the shoe including the Jumpman on the toe, laces and XXX branding on the heel. What did you think of Westbrook’s choice of footwear? Hot or not? Let us know in the comments below.

Cork Soles Appear On The adidas Originals Stan Smith

STAN SMITH 1 STAN SMITH 2 STAN SMITH 3

Here’s something you don’t see every day, an adidas Originals Stan Smith with a cork midsole. Yup, adidas just went there. The shoe’s upper is as normal as it comes with it’s all-white leather construction and black suede accents on the heel tab region of the shoe. Perforations on the side panels act as the Three Stripe branding, while the trefoil branding can be seen on the heel of the shoe. A set of white laces and eyelets also appear on the upper. The fun part of the shoe is found on the sole unit as it comes made entirely out of a cork construction. Said to be a women’s release, you can expect this version of the Stan Smith to begin arriving at select retailers in the near future.

Author’s Take

It looks clean. I just wonder if it’s going to be comfortable or cause any kind of squeaking. Aside from that, it’s different, but a good different.

Author’s Take

I like the look of the Inneva Woven, I just can’t wear any shoe with a Free sole, since I find it very uncomfortable. Add in a Lunarlon sole and I’m all in there.

Release Date For The Nike SB Koston 3

Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 1 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 2 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 3 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 4 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 5 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 6 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 7 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 8 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 9 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 10 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 11 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 12 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 13 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 14 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 15 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 16 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 17 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 18 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 19 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 20 Nike SB Koston 3 Release Date 21

The Nike SB Koston 3 is definitely a new look for the signature SB line. Being that Koston is a big fan of Flyknit, he felt the need to utilize it on his own signature line and was able to do so by way of the Flyknit collar. Said to be inspired by the Nike Magista football boot, Nike SB applied it to their sneakers for the first time ever. The use of Flyknit technology gives you a locked-in feel around the ankle which definitely helps when you’re on top of the board. The shoe also goes on to use the Nike Hyperfeel concept to help “create a symbiotic relationship between your feet and your board.” In other words, the shoe will include the drop-in Nike Lunarlon midsole which comes thinner around the toes to enhance boardfeel. The heel features thicker Nike Lunarlon foam and a responsive Nike Zoom Air unit to help riders land softly.

Koston goes on to say:

“You can make the most cushioned shoe ever, but if you can’t feel your board, then what’s the point? The Koston 3 is designed to be an extension of your foot. You’re trying to get as close to that barefoot feeling as possible.”

Nike designers also strategically placed areas of grip and durability in key areas, which is reflected in the thin, textured web-rubber sidewall and outsole. These areas help provide added flexibility and helps riders flick their skateboards. The more the rubber breaks in, the better it performs. There’s no doubt that the Nike SB Koston 3 is a new look for Nike SB, but Koston went on to say this:

“If it’s disruptive, so be it,I’m not afraid of change. That’s when progress is made.”

The Nike SB Koston 3 will officially release on March 1st at select Nike SB retailers for $150. You like this new look? Sound off below.

Change is good. I have nothing against the traditional look of SB signature models, but if the shoe performs better, I’m sure people will get used to the look.
