Early in the NBA season Swaggy P aka Nick Young became a sneaker free agent as his contact with Nike reached its end. There was a brief moment where he went on to wear everything from Nike to FILA to Reebok and adidas. Ultimately Swaggy decided to join James Harden and Kaye West and joined team adidas. But why?
Here’s what Young had to say about his decision to walk away from Nike (and other brands) and choose adidas.
“Nike is really only three people. Kobe, Durant and LeBron,” he explained. “I like the concept of how adidas adds everybody in their shoe commercial. The way adidas is going and the waves they’ve got, I was getting on board.”
We can’t help but assume that Kanye West played a big part of Young’s decision to join adidas and according to him he was influenced by Yeezy.
“That helped adidas out a trillion times,” Young laughed. “And of course I asked for the whole Kanye collection. Bring me everything.”
