adidas Originals Stan Smith CF – Things Are Seriously Changing

That’s the way, uh huh uh huh, we like it. The adidas Originals Stan Smith is a silhouette for the books and it has always come through for us on all fronts in terms of banging silhouettes. BUt now, we’re getting something that is just a tad bit different than most.

The adidas Originals Stan Smith CF is your standard tennis silhouette, but this time it has swapped out laces for three velcro panels. The upper is set in black, but white lands on the heel and midsole for a well rounded design. If you’re interested, hit up your local adidas retailer and see if they’ve got these on the shelves.

Author’s Take

Velcro is much quicker than laces, but I must say that velcro makes me feel like a child so I’ll be passing.

We’re approaching Fall which means it’s almost boot season. Sometimes it seems as though we’ve only got two options: sneakerboots, or Timbs. But this isn’t true my friends, meet the Neighborhood x adidas Shelltoe Boot.

This time around, we’re checking out this Shelltoe Boot in a full leather upper that is cloaked in black, a great look for the Fall season. If you’re interested in copping the Neighborhood x adidas Shelltoe Boot, then check with your local adidas retailer for availability.

adidas Y-3 Kohna – Black / Roundel Red (Another Look)

Hip hip hooray for the adidas Y-3 Kohna! This silhouette is definitely on its way to becoming one of Y-3’s dopest silhouettes. I say this, mostly, because of the Playoff vibe I get from these. Don’t think I’m saying they’re exact replicas, they definitely aren’t, but if the Playoff 8s were adidas made, they’d look like this.

The adidas Y-3 Kohna features a black upper, with a neoprene sock liner for comfort. A printed elastic heel strap helps add some character to the model, while the forefoot branding and split midsole really packs the punch in roundel red, black and white. If you’re interested, hit up your local adidas Y-3 retailer.

Author’s Take

Playoffs are pretty much my favorite, but that’s why I don’t actually like these all that much. Nothing can top my babies, and when another silhouette even tries (though I doubt that was the aim with these) I send them packing.

It seems like we’ve only got Diamond, Buscemi, Nike and adidas to choose from when it comes to slides. I like these just because they’re different.

The Asics Gel Lyte 3 Gets In On the Iridescent Action

Asics Gel Lyte 3 1 Asics Gel Lyte 3 2

adidas has done it. Nike soon-after followed suit. Now it looks like Asics is going to give it a try themselves, as they have become the newest brand to utilize an iridescent upper on one of their models. Let’s take a look at this newest version of the Asics Gel Lyte 3.

The Asics Gel Lyte 3 comes in an upper that is dressed in a bright display of rainbow shades. This particular version comes in the seamless construction that Asics has been using a lot this year. Adding to the colorful look of the shoe are the multi-colored laces that tie up the look of the shoe together. A white midsole attempts to contrast the look of the vibrant upper, but let’s keep it real, nothing is going to offset the look of this upper! Are you liking this upcoming release coming out of Asics? Let us know in the comments below.

 Author’s Takes

You know the feeling you get when you’re in the dark for a long time and someone turns on the light and you look straight at the light? That’s exactly how I feel when I look at this shoe. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. What I am sure of is that I’m glad Asics continues to step outside it comfort zone.

Chad Johnson Will Give You a Pair Of The All White Yeezys, All You Have to Do Is…

An Eyebrowless Chad Johnson Will Buy You White Yeezys If You Beat Him in FIFA

Chad Johnson or Chad Ochocinco or whatever other name he goes by these days has extended a rather unusual invitation through his Twitter account.

The former NFL player is pretty confident in his video game skills that he’s willing to put some Yeezys on the line if he loses. Johnson is evidently tired of people talking trash online of how they can beat him at FIFA 15 and he wants people to actually do it in his house.

If he loses, which I’m assuming he doesn’t expect will happen, he says that he will shave his eyebrows AND personally get you the unreleased pair of white Yeezys.

So who got next?

The adidas Crazy 8 May Have Found Its Halloween Costume

adidas Is Dressing Up the Crazy 8 for Halloween 1 adidas Is Dressing Up the Crazy 8 for Halloween 2

After seeing a possible Christmas release of the adidas Crazy 8 last week, the Three Stripes may have just leaked another holiday-inspired colorway of their retro basketball silhouette.

This possible upcoming colorway of the adidas Crazy 8 seems to use the same “Night of The Ballin’ Dead” theme that was spotted on the J Wall 2 last week. This Crazy 8 uses a pink brain print throughout the majority of the upper with some white detailing on the side panels and midsole. Royal Blue and purple detailing also cover the laces and the inner liner to add another bright pop of color to the shoe. It also appears that the outsole, midsole and the adidas branding on the ankle are all glow-in-the-dark.

Would you pick up this Halloween-themed adidas Crazy 8? Stay tuned for release information in the near future.

Pink brain print on the upper? Genius! Just because it’s a Halloween theme though. If it wasn’t this would be horrendous.

Did You Know That Jeremy Scott Designed This Year’s MTV VMA Moonman Award?

Jeremy Scott Gave This Year's MTV VMA Moonman adidas Wings Sneakers 1 Jeremy Scott Gave This Year's MTV VMA Moonman adidas Wings Sneakers 2

Decorated fashion designer Jeremy Scott had a pretty big impact during yesterday’s MTV VMA Awards. Aside from Kanye West stealing the show for wearing a new colorway of his adidas Yeezy 350 Boost and declaring that he’s running for president in 2020, Scott was responsible for designing something very important.

Jeremy Scott is known for his out-of-the box sneaker designs with adidas that have featured things like pandas, bears, and wings on them, so MTV put him in charge of designing the VMA Moonman award this year. As you can see in the pictures above the award features a rainbow palette throughout and the moonman was even given some of Scott’s signature adidas JS Wings kicks.

I think it looks pretty cool. The rainbow upper pops nicely and the Wings kicks are an added bonus.

Fetty Wap Rocks Yeezy Season 1 for 'CR Men's Book'

Carine Roitfeld's CR Men's Book -- a menswear-centric brother to the flagship CR Fashion Book publication -- is launching later this week and it will be highlighted not only by an appearance from Kate Upton, but a brand new Yeezy Season 1 editorial. Offering the latest look at Kanye's highly anticipated collab with adidas, the piece will feature Fetty Wap and three additional up-and-comers -- all handpicked by 'Ye himself -- as they each are profiled and rock pieces from the collection. Though the publication has only offered up a brief glimpse of the Sloan Laurits-shot editorial, the posted outtake sees Fetty Wap in a black version of the range's distressed military-inspired sweater while the 25-year-old rapper sheds light on his hit track "Trap Queen":

Everybody doesn’t have the same trap queen. Everyone can have their own trap queen. There is the way I use it in the song, but my mom is a trap queen. She held us down and she was a queen at doing it. She took care of her children and her tribe, made sure we had food on the table, and kept our heads up. However you want to put it, there are different meanings to it.

The debut issue of CR Men's Book will supplement CR Fashion Book 7, which is due out this Thursday, September 3 and can be pre-ordered online now for $20 USD.

2015 SLAM Summer All-American Team

You may recall that we put together an All-American team every spring at the end of the regular high school season as a way to pay homage to the nation’s top young hoopers. This year, considering how important and expansive the summer youth circuit has become for both players and collegiate programs in the recruiting world, we have decided to now start compiling a Summer All-American team at the end of summer as well. Our first ever team was no easy task, as there were too many players that can be made an argument for as being among the top-5 performers of the summer. From breakout players like Wenyen Gabriel and Markelle Fultz to impressive performances from the likes of Terrance Ferguson, Frank Jackson and D’Aaron Fox, these were all guys that made the list so much harder to compile. In the end, we went with guys that we thought showed the most consistency through it all. Congrats the inaugural SLAM Summer All-American team. The uniforms were designed by the Nando DiBiase, who used to put together our annual SLAM All-American uniforms in the past and whom we will have more on very soon.

Rawle Alkins
Middle Village (NY) Christ the King | G, 6-5, 220 | Class of 2016

Coming into the summer, Alkins had generated a buzz locally after leading Christ the King Regional HS to its third straight state title, the first catholic school in NYC to do so in 34 years. But nationally? That was still work-in-progress. Fast forward some four months and Alkins is now regarded among the top 15 seniors in the country. That’s what happens when you win MVP at the adidas Uprising Gaunlet championship game with 34 points and at the adidas Nations Championship with 26 points. The physique of an NBA-ready prospect with the usual swag of a Brooklyn guard, a respectable jumper and great motor, NYC hasn’t been this excited about a high school recruit since Lance Stephenson in 2009.

Harry Giles
Mouth of Wilson (VA) Oak Hill | F, 6-10, 230 | Class of 2016

Being that he was already considered by many as the top hooper in the Class of 2016, there wasn’t much that Giles could really gain this summer—except reassuring folks that he has bounced back perfectly from his ACL, MCL and meniscus tear in his left knee a couple of summers ago and is deserving of the hype. Well, he did just that after averaging 18.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game during the regular season of the EYBL, leading his Team CP3 squad to a league-best 15-2 record. The North Carolina native then traveled to Greece to help lead the U19 USA Basketball team to the FIBA World Championships gold medal and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after finishing third in the tourney in points per 40 minutes with 26.4. He then returned to the states and led his CP3 squad to the semifinals of Nike’s Peach Jam, but not before being named MVP of the 2015 EYBL campaign.

Shorts AA

Josh Jackson
Napa (CA) Prolific | F, 6-7, 195 | Class of 2016

Jackson averaged 18.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists this summer playing for 1 Nation on the Under Armour Association travel circuit, ultimately being named the MVP of the Baltimore-based company’s league. Also a member of the U19 USA Basketball gold medal winning team this July, Jackson made headlines when he dropped 50 points at the Big Strick Classic in the Bronx, NY, obviously earning MVP honors as a result. Then just two weeks later, one night after winning the slam dunk contest at the 2015 Elite 24 festivities, he earned MVP at the 10th annual showcase after posting 12 points and seven rebounds during an epic showdown versus 2016 wing Rawle Alkins.

Jayson Tatum
St. Louis (MO) Chaminade | F, 6-8, 205 | Class of 2016

After averaging 19.5 points (fifth-best) and 8 rebounds per game during the regular season of Nike’s EYBL, Tatum led his St. Louis Eagles team to the championship game of the EYBL Finals at Peach Jam in July, demonstrating his versatility in the process and why many folks consider him the most complete (and smooth) player in high school basketball. Then to cap off the summer, he attended the highly-talked about (in the recruiting/grassroots circle) Nike Bahamas trip where he led everyone in scoring with 18 points. Headed to Duke in 2016, Tatum had an array of incredible finishes over the past four months, including this jam over a Greek player during FIBA play, as well as this one.

Kassoum Yakwe,
Centereach (NY) Our Savior New American |F, 6-8, 205 | Reclassified to Class of 2015

Coming into the summer as a prospect barely in the conversation for top-100 ranking consideration in the Class of 2016, Yakwe put together one of the most impressive summer circuit performances this year. He led the prestigious talent-loaded Nike EYBL in cumulative blocks during the regular season with 46, and then led the Finals at Peach Jam with 5.8 rejections in four games while hooping with the PSA Cardinals of New York. At Peach Jam, he also finished second in rebounds after averaging 11.8 boards per outing. Coincidently, highly touted Kansas freshman Cheick Diallo, who like Yawke is from Mali and shared the frontcourt at Our Savior New American School, won the same EYBL defensive award last year before earning MVP at the McDonald’s All-American Game as well as the Jordan Brand Classic. In a summer circuit system where scoring tends to be the main focus, Yakwe is a refreshing reminder of a player knowing his role and outworking everyone else at it. Just last week it was announced that Yakwe will be reclassifying to the Class of 2015 and will be enrolling at St. John’s this fall.

Kanye West Promises Everyone Yeezys If He Becomes President

Not only did Kanye West unveil ANOTHER new colorway of the adidas Yeezy 350 Boosy yesterday at the VMAs, but he also made the announcement that he plans to run for President of The United States in 2020. (Let’s hope not!)

Kanye Spotted Wearing New Colorway Of Yeezy Boost At MTV VMAS

MTV VMAS 1 MTV VMAS 2 MTV VMAS 3 MTV VMAS 4 MTV VMAS 5

Just in case you weren’t tuned in to the MTV VMAS last night, you missed Kanye West rock a brand new colorway of the adidas Yeezy 350 Boost, and no we’re not talking about the all-white colorway that he rocked at the James Harden yacht party. This time Kanye decided to bring out an all tan/beige colorway of his infamous sneaker.

The footwear of choice that West decided to bring out ended up matching his whole outfit ensemble for the night as he was seen wearing tan from head to toe. The adidas Yeezy 350 Boost came in an all-tan construction that even included an all-tan sole unit and tonal laces. Said to be the most toned down version of all the colorways we’ve seen, it’s also the most casual looking one as well. What’d you think of Kanye’s new colorway of the 350 Boost? Better yet what did you think of his whole oufit?
