Mark "The Gonz" Gonzales is a downtown legend and a creative dynamo; his newest frame with sunglass specialists RETROSUPERFUTURE is just the latest in a long line of collaborations that range from Supreme to adidas, SEE SEE to New Era, but The Gonz makes sure to never step in the same river twice. Sitting in an art supply store in Soho, The Gonz mused on his creative process: "I wanna do things that haven't been done yet, use new materials, do things new." This philosophy applies across the board—be it shoes, skate-decks or citrus-orange shades, Gonzales makes sure to strike from a place of pure creativity and originality.
HYPEBEAST hooked up with the man behind the Shmoo to talk his new sunglasses, art history, P. Diddy and more as he picked up art supplies and grabbed a slice of pizza after skating up and down the streets of SoHo NYC.
