A Blizzard Was Not Going To Stop Sneakerheads From Picking Up The Kith x adidas Consortium Tubular Doom

Blizzard 1 Blizzard 2

As most of you know, the highly anticipated Kith x adidas Consortium Tubular Doom released today. Aside from releasing at KithNYC.com, the shoe was also going to be made available exclusively at Kith Soho, Kith Brooklyn, and the Kith Women’s store. The only problem with the in-store releases in NYC was that there was a full-on blizzard happening today! Was the highly anticipated release going to be a dud? Nope! Despite the harsh weather conditions that makes the common person stay inside their warm house all day, Ronnie Fieg’s KITH boutique had a long line of people waiting outside in hopes of picking up a pair! Yeah, I know. It’s crazy!

Although New Yorkers are no strangers to cold weather, there were more than a few local businesses that decided to close their doors due to the snow storm that had already piled up more than one foot of snow on the ground. KITH also eventually closed their doors, but not before they sold all their pairs of the Kith x adidas Consortium Tubular Doom to the people waiting outside.

What do you think about KITH’s decision of keeping doors open and having people wait outside in the snow storm just for a chance to pick up a pair of their shoes? Was it wrong of them? Or was it okay since they didn’t force anyone to wait in the snow storm?

Ronnie Fieg took to his Instagram and attempted to explain the reasoning behind not closing up his shop:

“The reason we didn’t reschedule is because there were people who traveled from different states and people who were staying in the city ready for the drop. It wouldn’t be fair to them to change it up. Nobody forced anyone to come to the shop. I don’t like having people waiting in the cold to buy shoes, I don’t get off on that. If I would have had a full staff this morning, I would have set up the line in the shop but we were undermanned and we did everything we could. Before you say, “fuck this guy” just remember I’ve been doing this for 20 years and I already know the right and wrong things to do.”
