The holiday season has long been known for unprecedented shopping frenzy, and those looking for gifts definitely didn't overlook footwear. The numbers from Christmas sales are in -- and it's up for many of our household sportswear names. Under Armour saw a whopping spike of 98.9 percent in footwear sales compared to 2014's holiday season, while Nike saw a more modest rise with 18.6 percent. The Swoosh's basketball department saw a 19.8 percent increase gain from a year earlier, and unsurprisingly, the best-selling shoe in the entire footwear category belonged to the Jordan Retro 8 Chrome. Even Sketchers saw a 5 percent increase compared to last year's holiday shopping period, which is good news for the brand even though it's just been hit with a lawsuit from the Swoosh.
However, adidas continues its decline, marking a 7.7 percent drop in athletic-footwear sales. Despite this, general adidas sales were up 4.5 percent. Perhaps everyone was out there waiting for the "Oxford Tan" Yeezys.
