The adidas Originals Rod Laver is a shoe that is often overlooked in favor of the adidas Originals Stan Smith. They both happen to share the same style silhouette, but at times it may appear that adidas backs the Stan Smith more than it does the Rod Laver. Well, now it appears that it is the adidas Originals Rod Laver’s time to shine. Coming in two different colorways sporting a snakeskin upper, let’s take a look at the newest coming out of the Rod Laver silhouette.
First thing I notice on both pairs of shoes, is the lack of branding on the upper. Nothing on the heel, tongue or sides point out that this is an adidas or Rod Laver sneaker, making it obvious that adidas has decided to take the minimal route when designing this sneaker. The other obvious part of the shoe that we all notice is the beautiful snakskin print found on the entire upper on both pairs of shoes. The first pairs comes in all black, while the second pair comes in all white. Tonal laces and an off-white sole complete the aesthetics of the shoe. There’s also been talk that these particular sneakers will be a part of the Consortium program, meaning that adidas Rod Laver “Python” Pack will not be a general release, and most likely come out in limited numbers. I’m actually diggin’ the subtle non-branding look on the adidas Originals Rod Laver. What really takes the shoe over the top, is the snakeskin upper. The combination of a minimal look along with the textured upper makes this shoe a must cop for all adidas enthusiasts.
