Can you spot the difference in this version of the adidas Originals Superstar? Shelltoe? It’s there. Same sole unit too? So what’s missing? Ah yes, the traditional Three stripes you’re used to seeing on the side panels of the shoes. Where’d they go?

It appears that adidas is giving the adidas Originals Superstar a makeover. It’s actually opting to tone it down and give it a much more subtle and minimal look. It will comes dressed in a premium white leather upper, the only major difference is that it won’t come with the customary Three Stripes. Something also worth mentioning is the exclusion of the adidas branding usually found on the tongue. This definitely results in a much more sleek, clean and sophisticated look. Although there is not stripes, branding still appears on the rear end side of the shoe by was of ‘adidas superstar’ coming in gold branding. Expected to arrive at select retailers as we speak, are you feeling this cleaner version of the adidas Originals Superstar?

Author’s Take

I think I like it. At first I was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to identify the brand of the shoe, but there’s no denying the adidas roots, all you have to do is take a quick glance at the iconic shell toe found on the toe box. It definitely looks much cleaner, and you’ll probably be able to mix and match this shoe with a wider array of your wardrobe due to its simplicity.
