adidas Adds A New Clause Into Its Contracts For Athletes Who Choose To Come Out The Closet

adidas is letting the world know that they support every single one of their athletes, regardless of their sexual preference. They managed to do this by adding a brand new clause to their contracts that prevents the brand (adidas) from terminating the contracts of their sponsored athletes, men and women, due to sexual orientation.

The new clause was announced at the Team “Pride: Leveling the LGBT Playing Field” conference in London. This is what the official clause states:

“Adidas acknowledges and adheres to the principles of diversity, as this is a central part of the Adidas group philosophy. Therefore Adidas warrants that this agreement will neither be terminated nor modified in case the athlete comes out to the public as a member of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.”

This new clause from adidas is amazing news for sponsored athletes and teams moving forward. Now they can lively freely and genuinely without having to worry about losing their sponsorship deals. Will this new clause help more athletes to come out the closet? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Dope new clause by adidas. I mean come on, we are living in 2016, shouldn’t every brand have this clause?
