Why October Was a Strong Month For Releases

In the calendar, October is associated with various festivities, be that the lager-ladled Oktoberfest or Halloween, a time when your inner freak comes out to play. In sneaker culture, words often muttered in the same breath tend to relate to Kanye West and the multiple projects he's involved in. The intended release of the highly-anticipated Nike Air Yeezy 2 Red Octobers were suspended for months in 2013, eventually causing a ruckus when they randomly dropped in February. Similarly, fans finally got their hands on the coveted Yeezy Season 1 collection this month. Yeezy news aside, it's also been a solid month for a slew of other fashion mainstays. UNDERCOVER brought back the iconic Hamburger Lamp, adidas Originals and Palace Skateboards teamed up on a comprehensive collection, while Supreme's former Creative Director Brendon Babenzian also unveiled his first collection for Noah, showcasing his depth as a designer beyond the parameters of streetwear. Check out 10 hot releases that dropped this month below.

Gosha Rubchinskiy 'Youth Hotel' Book

Thanks to the Moscow native, Russian fashion has garnered an unprecedented amount of attention. Although Gosha Rubchinskiy has of late been immensely active within the fashion sphere, most know that the beginning of his career is deeply rooted within photography. Having amassed a prolific body of work documenting the youth culture of underground Russia, IDEA and Dover Street Market New York released a limited edition 118-page photo book earlier this month from the photographer-cum-designer. In typical Gosha fashion, the series is a visceral and intimate portrayal of a secret world unbeknownst to most and is definitely a prize for those lucky enough to have secured a copy.

NikeLab Gyakusou 2015 Holiday Collection

The NikeLab Gyakusou line has consistently won rave reviews from runners for its combination of high-performance textiles and construction with thoughtful design. Supreme x Jordan Apparel Collection

It came, it saw, it sent the internet into meltdown. Endorsed by His Airness the moment in streetwear history sold out rapidly from official Supreme retailers and online.

UNDERCOVER Hamburger Lamp

Remaining as one of the streetwear brand’s most sought-after home goods, the distinctive UNDERCOVER Hamburger Lamp has received another release to the delight of collectors worldwide. Yeezy Season 1 Collection

Finally. Kanye West’s long-awaited debut apparel collaboration hit shelves, and promptly left shelves, this month. Prompting round-the-block queues in New York City and one shopper to claim “these clothes are a blessing to me”, Yeezy’s simplistic designs have courted positive and negative reviews alike. High price tags don’t seem to have deterred loyal followers of Mr West’s output and the buzz seems set to continue long into the future, with Season 2 dropping soon.
