This may possibly be an obvious nod to the theme. Furthermore, upon closer inspection, the silhouette’s contrasting Black composition inherits a leather scale-like finish, which further suggests its inspiration.

Author’s Take
I like the model in general and this variation isn’t that bad actually. I’m just against the graphic on the toe box, but overall, the colorway is pretty solid.
