James Harden, Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis have all had their moments (and DeAndre Jordan had his emojis), but with training camps starting up, we can call it: The winner of the offseason has been BdotAdot5, the NBA impersonator. He came into our lives with a killer Russell Westbrook impersonation (which is, for my money, still his best work) and has been adding to his body of work all summer.
Now it’s autumn, and Bdot has taken on one of the most unique, iconic personages ever to grace the game — Shaquille O’Neal. His take on Shaq’s destruction of Chris Dudley is predictably amazing, as is his Shaq run, and this time — like with Russ — Bdot got respect from the target of his parody:
Shaq wisely chose the viewpoint that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and Bdot videos are mostly representative of that — with Joey Crawford and Carmelo Anthony being notable exceptions. With the season now finally, thankfully, around the corner, there’s no reason for Bdot to stop now, especially with Metta World Peace back in the league and the possibility JaVale McGee actually gets minutes for the Dallas Mavericks. The NBA is still ripe for parody, so let’s hope Bdot keeps them coming.
