The adidas Originals ZX Flux has become one of the flagship models of adidas’ lifestyle division. The plethora of fresh ideas and collaborations that give each release a new look so far has been well received in the sneaker community. Whether they are going to for the loud and brash or the muted and subdued, the Flux shows no signs of slowing down.
This past weekend, we got in two pairs of ZX Flux kicks (hence the title because two is enough for us to call this a “palooza”) that cover both sides of the Flux spectrum. On one hand, you’ve got the recently restocked (although now sold out again) XENO ZX Flux that features luminescent technology like it has never been used before on a sneaker, creating a duality where a sneakerhead can go incognito in the dark but shine when the spotlight is on them. And then there’s the Bodega x adidas Consortium collaboration that take its cues from the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey. While the reflective hits on the upper give it some life, the pitch black nylon and suede upper along with the warm glow of the red, yellow and orange accents belie something that it totally self-aware underneath.
