NBA Kicks: Nick Young debuts the Nike Kobe 9, Norris Cole takes it back with Nike Air Zoom Generation

2014 - January 23 - Cover3Kobe’s future met LeBron’s past on Thursday night when protégés Nick Young and Norris Cole rocked some very newsworthy kicks for the entire world to see. Probably not what TNT and the NBA were hoping for when they scheduled this game last year with Heat struggling and the Lakers coming to South Beach with Kobe in a suit, but we at least got to see the Nike Kobe 9 in action for the first time along with the criminally unappreciated (but will be loved once Nike drops it with the word “retro”) Nike Air Zoom Generation.

Illuminati handshake...

Illuminati handshake…

Young got to wear a new colorway of the Kobe 9 with the blessing of both Bryant and Nike, which goes to show you how highly Mamba thinks of Swaggy P. A quick glance reveals that this is a different colorway from the “Masterpiece” Kobe 9 that was part of the debut event back in December with a more yellowish Flyknit upper and a speckle-free black midsole. Meanwhile, Cole has been wearing the Zoom Generation to big games this season, sparking hopes of a future retro release once more.

As more the rest of the night in kicks, absolutely nothing else mattered because Nike Kobe 9 happened. No one cares about some silly Air Jordan 11s that Michael Beasley and Manny Harris wore..
