On the night when new Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd will watch the number and colors he wore while a member of the New Jersey Nets raised up to the rafters of the Barclays Center, two of his former teammates and the man who brought him to New Jersey reflect on his presence, his play and the way he changed the fortunes of a formerly moribund franchise
PF: Bleacher Report and National Post. Howard Beck and Eric Koreen on new Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens and his transition to the NBA game, which they — and his players — expect will eventually result in some bags under those 36-year-old eyes.
SF: Sole Collector. There are some doubts about the report that Adidas is ready to offer Andrew Wiggins a $180 million shoe deal as soon as he gets out of college. These seem like reasonable doubts to me, because that seems like a fairly insane amount of money.
SG: Eye on Basketball. He came out of college with the expectation of being a defensive game-changer, but what makes Anthony Davis such an intriguing offensive player despite a relatively raw post game? Zach Harper investigates.
PG: Brew Hoop. As part of a multi-post deep dive on the Milwaukee Bucks' offense, Steve von Horn looks at which players Milwaukee will look to lean on to generate offensive opportunities against set half-court defenses. A fair amount of O.J. Mayo and Gary Neal isos could be in the Bucks' future, for better or for worse.
6th: San Antonio Express-News. An interesting story from Jeff McDonald on the biggest changes for the San Antonio Spurs coming not in the locker room, but on the bench, where Gregg Popovich has had to replace two top assistants in one offseason.
7th: Gothic Ginobili. Bidding a fond farewell to a number of NBA journeymen who've likely seen their last action in the league. It only seems like all of them played for the Knicks last year.
8th: Deadspin. Whoops.
9th: CNN. Jeff Pearlman argues that NBA teams have squandered a major opportunity to effect change by even inviting extending a training camp invitation to Jason Collins.
10th: CBSSports.com. In the interminable conversation about whether LeBron James could and/or will wind up surpassing all who came before to earn recognition as the greatest player of all time, Gregg Doyel thinks fans and media members have been moving the goalposts on the Miami Heat star, and irrespective of whether you actually think he'll be better at his peak than [INSERT LEGEND HERE] was at his, the writer's got a point.
