The kicks you see above aren’t just an insanely hot new colorway of an adidas Basketball classic, the Crazy 8. They’re also the first MLS-themed basketball sneakers ever from adidas. With some help from Kicks to the Pitch and Bait, adidas has created two special “Rivalry Week” colorways for the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer. The sneakers will launch with a pair of parties in their respective cities.
The online magazine and live event production company KICKS TO THE PITCH, is teaming up with west coast sneaker retailer BAIT and Adidas, to commemorate the release of the Crazy 8’s in the Sounders and Timbers colorway. Coinciding with MLS Rivalry Week and in anticipation of the latest fixture that’s arguably the most intense rivalry match in American soccer between the Sounders and Timbers, KTTP will host events at the BAIT store in Seattle (August 27th) and at the brand new BAIT store in Portland (August 28th).
Both launch parties will run from 7pm to 10pm and feature specially curated photography installations by Benjamin Chi, sneaker art by Stephen Signa-Aviles a multi-disciplinary artist based in Chicago inspired by graffiti and urban folk art, and interpretation art by Berto Herrera. The event will also host guests with drinks, live entertainment, exclusive BAIT x KTTP merchandise, as well as meet-and-greet opportunities with MLS players from respective teams. Crep Protect will also be in attendance for both events to make sure all kicks stay clean. The launch party on August 28th marks the grand opening of BAIT’s Portland chapter store. Attendees who use UBER ride service to travel to the Seattle and Portland event will have the opportunity to win a VIP package with exclusive team, KTTP and BAIT merchandise.
