NBA Kicks: Russell Westbrook scores playoff-high 38 points in the Air Jordan XX9

2014 - May 13 - Cover

So maybe Russell Westbrook was just taking his time with the Air Jordan XX9. Ever since the start of the playoffs, Westsbrook has alternated between the yet-to-be-released XX9 and the proven XX8 SE that he has worn for a majority of the season. We wondered out loud why Kevin Durant wasn’t wearing his designated playoff shoe and certainly we were thinking the same about Westbrook and the XX9. Maybe it was a breaking-in phase that Westbrook had to go through, but that breakout certainly came at the right time as he led the Thunder to a furious (and controversial) comeback against the Clippers while scoring a playoff career-high 38 points. It was a great showcase for the shoe as it was featured in many key plays during that comeback.

As for the rest of the night in kicks, Al Harrington wore another Nike LeBron 11 iD, John Wall led the Wizards to a blowout win against the Pacers in the adidas CrazyQuick 2, Derek Fisher wore a standard Nike KD 6 instead of his usual Elite model and much more.
