NBA Kicks: John Wall rocks the adidas Crazy 1 “Cherry Blossom”

2014 - March 20 - FrontSpring is here (well, in most of the country) and for those in the Washington D.C. area that means the start of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which is a celebration of the season and the bond shared between America and Japan. A tradition that began in 1912 when Yukio Ozaki, the mayor of Tokyo City, gave the city of Washington the gift of beautiful Japanese cherry trees, it has endured for over a century now and people from around the country gather to D.C. to check out the sights and events surrounding the festival. Hey, it’s a lot cheaper than a flight to Japan to see them, I guess…

It only took 102 years, but finally a sneaker brand finally got around to producing a special colorway to commemorate the event (Sakura Air Force 1s are more Japanese-centric because duh). With John Wall in Portland (aka home of adidas) these past few days, the three stripes produced the “Florist City” collection which includes the pink and silver “Cherry Blossom” and the red and black “Rose City” adidas Crazy 1s made for him and Damian Lillard. Luckily for us, Wall actually wore the “Cherry Blossom” last night against the Blazers as most of the world watched the NCAA tournament unfold.
