RETROSPECT: Collector Robert Brooks Shows us his adidas Jeans

adidas' replete archive in footwear not only showcases the brand's continuous innovation in sportswear, but also reflects its impact in lifestyle and subcultures in the realms of fashion and music throughout the decades. With the ability to stay relevant without overlooking its heritage, adidas' current collection is as significant as its classic range, paying just as much detail in design as it does with narrative. It's this sort of motif that ardent collectors such as Robert Brooks adhere to in their own collection. While some collectors flaunt their collection from a hip-hop perspective, Brooks' affinity for retro adidas profiles came from the connection with football and UK's sound system culture in the '70s. Here, Brooks shares with us a silhouette from his creme de la creme collection, the adidas Jeans -- a hard to obtain sneaker in OG form that holds timeless appeal, and in Brooks' eyes, an intimate story.

In celebration of the democratic nature of sportswear, Adidas-addict Gary Aspden teamed up with other committed trainer collectors to create a pioneering fan-led exhibition featuring over 600 pairs of footwear, including vintage, deadstock, re-issues and rarities. Filmed during the adidas 'Spezial' exhibtion at the Hoxton Gallery, each adidas RETROSPECT video captures the personal story behind each pair. Check back for another adidas 'Spezial' RETROSPECT in the next few days.
