We all know police get a bad rep on many occasions, but there is one thing you need to remember, don’t let the action of a few apples spoil the whole bunch. This time around, Italian police pick up the ‘W’ with their latest deed towards the less fortunate. We all know fake sneakers is an ongoing issue in the sneaker community, but the police figured out a way to turn a negative issue into a positive one.
When fake sneakers are confiscated, they usually end up being destroyed, but the police in Italy thought of a better idea that in turn would help and benefit a lot of people who are less fortunate and in need. The officials in Catania, Sicily were granted court permission to donate the fake shoes to the local aid groups, who in turn donate them to migrants arriving in Italy. It has been estimated that the police were able to gather close to 4,000 shoes in the region all of last year. One thing that was needed to be done before they actually end up giving the fake shoes away, is remove any branding in order to protect the intellectual property of the footwear companies that are being counterfeited.
