Is adidas a Contender or Pretender?

adidas is coming after that #1 spot, right?

Well not exactly. Even after seeing a 29% increase in the first quarter of 2015 for adidas Originals, the Three Stripes still has some work to catch up to Nike/Jordan. According to NPD Group, Nike/Jordan took 62% of Q1 sales in the total athletic footwear category in 2015. Skechers and adidas were tied at 5 percent with Asics rounding out the top four with 4%. As for the activewear category, Nike also took the #1 spot with 13% oof the sales. Under Armour was second at 6%, and adidas tied with Hanes with 3%.

This is not a morale booster if you’re adidas. To not be as close as you thought you were to Nike, it just goes to show you how far ahead Nike is ahead of the competition. Keep working adidas, you’re definitely headed in the right direction.
