Over the weekend, we learned that Nate Robinson suffered a torn ACL during a game against the Charlotte Bobcats, which will force him to miss the remainder of the season and maybe even more time than that. The injury will not only be felt by Robinson and Nuggets fans and the NBA in general, but by sneakerheads who have come to look forward to what pair of Jordans he was rocking on a nightly basis.
This was much was true: when Robinson signed with the Chicago Bulls the season prior, that was a defining moment for NBA sneaker watchers. Playing for the team that the Michael Jordan used to be pretty good in meant that just about any red, white and black Air Jordan was in play for Robinson to rock. And he delivered on many fronts, crescendoing with a Nike Air Yeezy 2 cameo just because he could. He even had an iconic moment in a pair Air Jordan 13 “Playoffs” that some people were joking to have the nickname changed to the “Nate Robinsons.” At least I hope they were joking…

Alas, the good times in the Chicago did not last long as Robinson was not brought back and went about looking for a team, landing in Denver before the start of this season. There was still plenty of hope and anticipation for what Robinson could rock as a Nugget, so much so we even put out a list of the kicks he could wear on his new team. But if we’re all being honest, nothing was the same…
So with a forlorn sole, we let’s take a look back at the Air Jordan Retros Nate Robinson rocked this season with the Denver Nuggets and also examine just how close were the kicks he was wearing tied to the powder blue, yellow and white uniforms he rocked this year. This also begs the question if the NBA even cares about that kind of stuff (mismatching uniforms and kicks) anyways.
