Hello and welcome to Kicks On Fire’s Top 50 Kicks Of 2013 list (told you we’d wait until 2013 was actually over), where we rank our favorite kicks of the year and put it out there for the sneaker internet to see and argue about. If you came into the year with an open mind and a fat wallet, chances are you’re staring at a pretty sizable stash of kicks today that would last most people for their entire lives (and wondering where the hell you’re going to put them all). Regardless of whether you live by the “QS or nothing” ethos or you enjoy the thrill of finding a hidden gem at the outlet stores, chances are you will find a pair or two that made it onto this list.
For this year’s list, we decided to group the kicks by their respective models. What this does is allow us to make sure more kicks are represented on the list and also does away with the “you forgot (insert sneaker they felt should be on the list)” comments. Basically, we didn’t want to have this list be populated by 15 of the most popular and hyped kicks with the only thing that separates them is their colorways. Besides, we already did brand-specific lists already and if you want our takes on what was awesome on a more micro level, you can go check them out here.
Anyways, sit back and enjoy this week-long journey through the best kicks of 2014. Today we’ll be taking a look at which made the cut at #50-41, which includes Kevin Durant and Chris Paul’s latest signature kicks, modern takes on iconic Reeboks and a much-hyped retro from Gary Payton.

Judging from all of the leaks for 2014 that we have seen of the Nike KD 6, it seems like Nike really saved their heavy hitters for this year. 2013 was a uniquely experimental time for Kevin Durant’s brand, opting to release KD 6 during the summertime and basically carve out a space for the basketball junkie so he wouldn’t be overshadowed by elder statesmen LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. We got some solid colorways of the KD 6 to be sure, but none of them that sneakerheads will be looking back as a classic at the moment. They are also favorites by the NBA players on our NBA Kicks recaps thanks to “Chroma” option on NIKEiD. Expect the KD 6 to climb up this list in 2014.
