For some time now, Chinese New Year’s been selected as a time when footwear brands merge culture with kicks for the court. adidas’s new CNY collection includes a special model for Damian Lilard that can work just as well for casual use as it would on the hardwood. The new collection is inspired by the symbolic nature of this year’s Chinese Zodiac – the “Fire Monkey” – and the D Lillard 2 model seen features a fanged fire monkey graphic print with an added gloss on an all-black upper, detailed in nubuck and mesh. Fire-red and gold accents and a clear blue outsole complete the look, creating a final product that’s sleek and clean. Priced at a very reasonable $105, the D Lillard 2 releases on Feb. 5 at adidas.com and additional adidas Hoops retailers.
