A lawsuit that began in December 2014, Nike’s long battle against three of its former shoe designers — Marc Dolce, Mark Miner and Denis Dekovic — has been quietly put to rest, with the terms of the settlement not available to the public.
Markowitz Herbold attorney Matt Levin, who represented the designers, said “The case was resolved through a confidential settlement.” What’s even more interesting is that neither side got attorneys fees, according to a court record.
The three designers who left for adidas last year, were being sued by Nike in regard to trade secrets being shared to their rival. Just this past April, Nike was already facing trouble with producing any evidence against the three designers after examining a number of electronic devices and other documentation.
Nike‘s lawsuit asked for $10 million in damages and even subpoenaed several top executives of adidas AG, including North America head Mark King, executive board member Eric Liedtke and others in order to determine if any information were leaked by the three former Nike designers.
All three designers have denied the allegations ever since it was brought to their attention, and adidas, which was not a party in the lawsuit, declined to comment on the eventual settlement.
