NFL players have pretty strict guidelines when it comes to what kind of shoes they can and can’t wear out on the field during games. Well the most important issue to Nike is to make sure that their Swoosh logo is not covered up. That’s why when taking part in Summer workouts or practice, some players decide to have some fun with what cleats they rock out on the field.
Washington Redskins safety Duke Ihenacho has decided to get really creative with cleats by customizing them in a very unique way. Ihenacho covers his Nike cleats in black and white tape to create different types of footwear. In the pictures above you can see some of his artistic work. In the past he has converted his cleats to look like house slippers, Nike slides and even Converse Chuck Taylors. According to Ihenacho himself, the “custom job” only takes him about 15 minutes to complete. Duke also wanted to put his artistic talents to work on some adidas, but wasn’t able to because he has a contract with Nike.
This is really creative and also look pretty fun to do. And if you don’t like it, you can always restore them back to their original form by simply removing the tape. Brilliant!
