One of the problems with writing our monthly “Kicks To Watch For” is that so many things can happen in a few days. As soon as that post hits, Nike might drop a press release about new kicks or new colorways that would have obviously made the list or there might be a collaboration that might finally get a definitive release date or even something slight as the changing of the release system can throw off the entire list. These are what they call #sneakerjournoproblems.


We have a vague idea of what 2014 has in store for us. Retros will still be as popular as they have ever been but with prices rising and at times even surpassing kicks that at the bleeding edge of technology, we might see some revolt for the first time; some sneakerheads will continue to think Jordans validate their existence; brands will continue to do things that amaze and puzzle us. It’s time we sat down and thought about what we don’t know for sure is coming out but have a pretty good hunch they will based on previous experience.


So let’s put our thinking fitted caps (because ain’t nobody got time for snapbacks) on and postulate on the releases that aren’t confirmed in the slightest sense but will definitely have people talking in 2014 if they actually happen. Because writing something like this is a lot more fun and interesting than another “top 10 reasons shoe game f****d up” article (we’ll save that for next week).
