With the news that Stephen “Captain Jack” Jackson has signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, it looks like we might be seeing another shuffling of the roster after recent injuries have plagued the team. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how much the team values him), that might mean less time for Antawn Jamison, whom coach Doc Rivers all but admitted was being saved for the stretch run. In the spot minutes he has played so far this year as a classic “Keep Getting Them Checks Guy” (©Jalen Rose), Jamison has been rocking the adidas Crazy 8; most notably the grey, white and black colorway.
While adidas might not have same deep catalog of kicks to pull from like Nike does, they do have more than a share of classics that they could fashion into their “Air Force 1” and “Air Jordan 1” evergreen sneaker and at the top of that list should be the adidas Crazy 8. If kids are tripping over themselves seeing a young Allen Iverson cross up Michael Jordan in the Reebok Question, adidas could absolutely do the same with Crazy 8 since it was once featured standing toe-to-toe with His Airness during the 1997 NBA All-Star Game. Sure, they can’t use Kobe Bryant’s image in this case, but all it takes is creative marketing and some cool colorways (like the “Brooklyn Nets” release) to make it happen.
Check out the rest of the night in kicks, which includes Chris Paul rocking another new colorway of the Jordan CP3.VII (lace switch, dammit), Stephen Curry having a big night in the Under Armour Anatomix Spawn (even though they lost), Tony Wroten and Monta Ellis wearing Jordans we’ve seen before (because of course we have), Lavoy Allen’s mysterious all-white Nike LeBron 11 iD making an appearance again and much more.
