NBA Kicks Season Preview: Will there be any sneaker Magic in Orlando?

So there are probably five of you wondering, “hey, where did those NBA Kicks Season Previews go?” Well, the answer for that is simple: there was so much features content this past week that we decided to double up and do it Grantland-style with two previews a day this coming week and resume our regularly scheduled posts until we get to October 30th when we talk about the (SPOILER) defending NBA champs.


So that was the long explanation. The short one is that I saw the schedule that and realized I had to write about the Orlando Magic on a Sunday morning in a beautiful San Diego resort. If that doesn’t suck the life out of you I don’t know what will.


It’s not that the Magic are going to be historically bad in year 2 without Dwight Howard, they have a promising young rookie in Victor (Hola) Oladipo and Tobias Harris is making Milwaukee Bucks cry on a nightly basis. But we all know that the team is probably not going to try their hardest to make the playoffs in light of the 2014 NBA Draft having what many believe to be the deepest class since 2003’s epic group. So what we have on the Magic are young and promising players trying to figure out who they are in the NBA, veterans who are better served being backups on contenders instead of being lead guys on a bad team and Hedo Turkoglu. Now you know why I took almost a week off…
