RETROSPECT: Dikembe Mutombo on the Return of his adidas Originals Signature Sneaker

Dikembe Mutombo was the name on everyone's lips recently with the recent retro release of his signature shoe from adidas Originals. The Congolese-born center was best known for his emphatic blocks and the signature finger-wag that would follow said blocks. Last seen in the NBA in 2009, it was with much sadness that Mutombo announced his retirement from the league following a knee injury in playoffs. His signature shoe, first released in 1993, returns 20 years after its debut looking as fresh as it did during its debut. With its signature African-inspired pattern, bold colors and sky-high cut, the adidas Originals Mutombo is a shoe that has been begging to be re-released and we're glad that is finally the case. We caught up with the big man at the 2013 New York Sneaker Con to talk about what it's like to see his signature again.
