Congrats @Reebok, you got the deal of the century. Unfortunately, it was at the cost of the fighters. Hope the bad press is worth it. @ufc

As some of you may know, Reebok has a multi-million dollar partnership with the UFC. Combine the new partnership along with the new athlete outfitting policy and UFC fighters are now not allowed to wear any other brand aside from Reebok to UFC events. That means no Nike, adidas, Under Armour or Jordan Brand to any UFC events. We recently came across a video that showed MMA-UFC fighter, Matt Mitrione in an awkward situation.
Mitrione arrived to the event wearing a pair of Jordan, or is his words, “Js”. It turns out that he was well aware of the new athlete outfitting policy but he still thought it was okay to arrive to an event wearing shoes that weren’t Reebok. So in order to not get fined, he ends up taking off his Jordans and take part in the even barefoot.
Mitrione went on to say:
“I had some Js on my feet and that was not part of the attire, so I came in barefooted.”
For some reason, Mitrione thought his Jordans were appropriate “dressed up” shoes, stating that where he’s from, Jordans are “dressing up”.
This is not the first time Mitrione has expressed how he feels about this Reebok x UFC partnership, take a look at the tweet above to give you a good idea about how he feels about the deal.
