Sports video games have come a long way from pixels and voxels and full-motion video. Where once we wondered whether a game could ever match the realism of their respective sport, now it’s all about bringing in all of the peripheral stuff that we once took for granted to create the wholly authentic experience. Like say, demon Michael Jordan trying destroy your dreams of becoming an NBA superstar. Wait, what?
Bizarre intro (and yearly server issues, but that’s for another time) aside, NBA 2K16 is once again the game of choice among basketball fans. The dominance began when Allen Iverson graced a 2K cover for the first time at the end of the last century and until EA Sports can figure things out and make NBA Live relevant again, it’s going to stay that way. Thankfully despite the lack of competition, 2K Sports has kept the franchise moving along and improving with every iteration, right down to the sneakers that are found in the game. From the big brands like Nike and adidas to the up and comers like Brandblack, almost every player in the league is wearing and representing their brand proper. And with the Shoe Creator, getting your favorite colorways in the game has never been easier.
With the release of the Air Jordan 13 CP3 “Away” colorway tomorrow, here’s a look at what the shoe would look like – minus the tongue logos since we can’t customize those just yet – in the game. Since it’s a callback to his beginnings as a Hornet, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll somebody in Charlotte rock these kicks at some point, along with the Air Jordan 13 CP3 “Home” that’s set to release next week in China.
