What genre of music would you say is your favourite?
I definitely can’t associate myself with one specific genre of music. That would be impossible, but I spend a lot of time on Mixpak checking out the latest music in the world of dancehall. I’m loving what Palmistry, a fellow south Londoner, is doing in fusing together pop and dancehall.
If you could shoot with any photographer, past or present, who would it be?
I shot with Rankin for Hunger magazine recently -- he’s awesome. However, it would definitely have to be Mario Testino. I think he’s got an amazing eye and his style is wonderful. There’s also an aura about his work and his portraits that’s just captivating.
How competitive is the modelling field?
Wow, it's crazy competitive. There’s so many of us going for the same thing but I’ve learnt that to survive it you cannot compare yourself to others. In the casting rooms you may all be dressed in the same black jeans and heels but you’re each completely different in the way you look, and most importantly, you each have your own personality which you need to exude when you get the chance.
Name an essential component of your everyday attire.
My Levi's -- I cant go anywhere without them. I’m in and out of Levi's and vintage Levi's stores just adding to my collection of denim. The last time I was in the Regent Street store, an assistant asked me why don’t I just work there, as I’m there so often.
Favourite sport?
I sail when I get the chance. My granddad builds boats and I’ve learnt to race catamarans. I remember when I raced a catamaran in the national championships when I was 19 -- the weather was awful one day and the waves were so high, I literally span off my trapeze wire at one point and flew off into the sea. It was madness.
