Just last month adidas introduced their new Futurecraft 3D technology, a unique 3D-printed running shoe midsole that can be tailored to the cushioning needs of an individual’s foot.

The first example from the Three Stripes was seen by using the popular adidas Ultra Boost silhouette. Now it seems that adidas will be expanding the innovative technology into their lifestyle category by using it on the legendary Superstar silhouette. The adidas Futurecraft Leather Superstar will release via a limited 45-pair run on Nov. 7, 2015, at Dover Street Market in New York, London and Tokyo. The upper is constructed of a seamless leather material that was created by using a digital milling process. By using this process it allows for greater precision and specification when it comes to the cut and thickness of the leather. Futurecraft Leather is the result of a collaboration between adidas, industrial designer Alexander Taylor and shoe designer Joachim de Callatay.

Author’s Take

The seamless upper looks very sleek and smooth, but the thought alone of going through the hassle of picking up a pair is not worth my time. adidas should have made more pairs for everyone to enjoy.
