adidas Is Suing Skechers For Ripping Off Their Stan Smith Design

Adidas Is Suing Skechers Over This Blatant Ripoff Sneaker 1

adidas is the latest brand taking legal action against another popular sneaker brand.

The Three Stripes has opened up a lawsuit against Skechers accusing them of ripping off their design of the adidas Originals Stan Smith to create a silhouette that Skechers is calling the “Onix.” You can take a look at the Skechers Onix above and almost immediately notice the resemblance to the Stan Smith. Everything from the rubber midsole, heel tab, and the perforations on the side panels look pretty identical to the Stan Smith. Here’s what adidas had to say about the lawsuit:

“adidas filed a lawsuit today against Skechers to protect its valuable intellectual property and put an end to a long-term pattern of unlawful conduct by Skechers to sell shoes that infringe adidas’ rights. adidas will not stand silently while Skechers copies the iconic Stan Smith shoe and uses terms like ‘adidas Originals’ and ‘Stan Smith’ as keywords on its website to divert customers looking for authentic adidas shoes. We believe Skechers’ unlawful behavior, which also includes misappropriation of adidas’ SUPERNOVA and Three-Stripe trademarks, needs to stop now.”
