Since its original launch in 1969, the adidas Originals Superstar has evolved from its humble beginnings as one of the very first performance basketball shoes to become a street-ready icon and a vital component in the crossover from the court to the sidewalk that gave birth to street culture. Long one of the brand's favorite collaborative canvases, the silhouette looks to make a major return next year -- much like the iconic Stan Smith did in 2014 -- as adidas introduces a bevy of in-house makeups for the timeless shell toes. Previewed here, next year's initial drop -- an apt follow-up to this winter's French-made Consortium release -- looks to feature a clean all-white version of the leather low top alongside a number of pairs with prototypical color-blocking, each of which pairs a predominately tonal look with contrasting heel panels and Three Stripes branding.
Look for adidas' foundational Superstars to be available starting January 1 at adidas Originals stockists across the globe.
