Headed into this season, the Phoenix Suns were supposed to be the Philadelphia 76ers of the Western Conference; every move they made seemed to be aimed at tanking for a high draft pick that would net them a franchise player for years to come. As it turns out, all that talk of tanking was awfully premature as the Suns emerged as one of the genuine surprises of the NBA season. The Suns were full of young and proud veterans who were not going to take wasting a season just to be get better in the future down and showed it by competing for a playoff spot in the West all the way to the end of the season.
But the real story for us sneakerheads with regards to the Suns came with how much heat was on their feet all this season. It seemed like every player on the Suns brought something cool and unique to the table; from Gerald Green finally being more than a glorified dunker in Reebok Classics to Goran Dragic showing love to adidas and Derrick Rose to the P.J. Tucker and the Morris Twins making the hypebeasts swoon with their kicks, there was plenty to love from the Suns on the sneaker side. And somehow we didn’t even get a chance to talk about Eric Bledsoe and his multiple Nike Zoom Soldier 7 player exclusives.
The Morris Twins might have won this year’s NBA Kicks MVP award if could combine them into Markiefus Morris, super NBA sneakerhead.
So here’s a look back at ever hyped sneaker the Phoenix Suns wore this season as we make our way to naming our NBA Kicks MVP this season.
